A parent asks our group: I am so upset tonight. I do not know where I would ever begin with telling my sons story. Hes very difficult. We have had diagnosis/labels thrown around for years but nothing solid. MY diagnosis (from my endless years of research to try to help him) is SPD. Hes brilliant, fun, and organized. Hes aggressive, angry, disobedient, awkward with other children, and socially immature. He wears the same clothes and eats the same foods all the time, and is still toilet training (he is 7yrs). He cant stray from routine or from how he thinks things should look to him in the moment (even if that is different then it was the day before). You get it, from what I read on here... Mainly, I want to help him with his aggressive behaviour. Hes mildly aggressive with other kids but extremely aggressive in our home, with myself, his younger brother, and with objects (throws things, turns things over, breaks things, very hurtful words etc). How do I handle this? What can I do? He takes Clonidine and omega 3 supplementation. (which helps some). What brought me to finally reach out tonight is that my son punched me in the face tonight. This stemmed from me asking for him to clean up his toys and get ready for a bath. I was not expecting that. It came out of no where and hes never done that before. I am completely devastated. I honestly cannot believe this has happened and do not know what to do. I cant do nothing as I find myself often doing, right?
