A parent asks our group: I have a one year old that I strongly suspect has SPD. We just relocated to TX and do not qualify for Medicaid for another two months. Im wondering about the process to have him diagnosed. I do not suspect any other disorders and have read that most insurances dont treat SPD as a stand alone disorder. Is this true for Medicaid? Can I pay an OT out of pocket to see/DX my son? What do they charge? How hard is it to get a pediatrician to write a referral for a one year old to see an OT? So many questions.
