A people divided and doomed forever What this country needs is a big spanking. It’s been too long, yet up to now we can’t seem To get our acts together, we’re still too divided As a people, no one collective dream as a nation, Not necessarily to bring us to megallomanic greatness, But at least for us to feel the whiff of the fresh Air of an earthly paradise where our people can daily Walk without thinking of one being mugged, or raped Or robbed or even dying from hunger and despair Amidst a land where big mansions and luxurious living A privileged few greet his eyes and he can’t at times Help but just sigh and accept his fate as God’s design. It’s being too long and there’s no excuse dear countrymen Why we can’t get our acts together - passé are the times We can still blame what happened in the past - the days When we were colonized and made slaves in our own land. And gone are the days too when we should still think of following What others did or tried to do, the dream perhaps of killing All oligarchs and the perceived enemy of the poor and all the stuffs That at one time became the model for some to build our Collective future on. Maybe just the simple act of getting our acts all together if we Can, try to solve our problems in a rationale, practical way, All within the system already in place - eliminate the abuses, Put to jail those who deserved to be punished, shamed them With means to prick their consciences and so that others may Realize we mean business - but at the same time don’t just In anger and without rhyme and reason put everything in disarray With a loud cry of down with everything - and no more; then we’ll Go back to where we have started - a people divided and doomed Forever.
