A personal appeal for something that has been bothering me for a few weeks now but made even more pressing by yesterdays events. This is Summer, she is approximately 9 years old and has been a resident at Husky Haven for far too long. A few weeks ago Summer was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour. At her age we have decided not to operate as this invariably leads to a speed up in the spread of the cancer and we want to maximise the time she has left with us. In addition it seems that she has had a particularly bad reaction to the bee attack, she had more than 16 stings in her tongue alone. The vets have warned us that the shock will more than likely accelerate the spread of the cancer. Summer will not have long to live and we cannot allow her to die at the Haven. We need a home that she can spend her remaining time in comfort and with love and compassion. She would be fostered so Husky Rescue will take care of her medical expenses. She is very undemanding, low energy and just needs a place to lie and a garden to walk around in. She would be the ideal only dog and is not good with other female dogs. If there are any really special animal angels out there that have could open up their hearts and home to a dear old lady and make her little remaining time as comfortable as possible I will be eternally grateful. She would even make an ideal companion for an elderly person who needs the friendship.
