A photo of the Breeders appears in the style feature titled Girl With The Most Cake: An Appreciation of the 90s Alt-Rock Woman. The photo captures the scene seconds after I gave Conan OBrien a hickey -- hence the enthusiastic thumbs-up from Kim. In the hotel bar at the Paramount the previous night we had come across Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic--Nirvana were hosting Saturday Night Live--and for reasons which now escape me, we spent the evening giving each other hickeys (I do remember that Kelvis got the worst of it...). So next day at the taping of the Conan show we were covered in them. Naturally Conan asked us to explain, and he then claimed hed never had a hickey, at which we all lunged towards him. I, however, didnt realize that the others were just faking and had sat down again… whilst I actually proceeded to give Conan a hickey... (JW)
