A physician shortage is not far around the corner. Even with increased medical school enrollment (and new medical schools opening), primary care holds less appeal to medical students than it once did. The medical profession is drowning in regulatory changes, and providers are forced to spend more time completing administrative tasks, leaving less time for patient care. While the focus of healthcare reform has been on patient access, access can only be achieved by increasing support and resources to primary care providers on the front lines.
