A picture from 1909 of my great-grandparents John Thompson and his wife Mary Jane (nee Ogden) outside their house. They lived at 1 Court/1 House Handley Street. Of their 15 children, 12 survived. My grandfather, Frank Thompson is the child on the far right. Their oldest son (at the back, also called John) was killed in France in WWI. To help make ends meet Mary Jane made food for the Griffin Inn on Spital Street. Handley Street is still there but the old houses are long gone. However, if anyone has a map of that era then I’d be very interested to know their exact location.
