A poem for my dad William Tommy Johnson.... May you continue to rest in peace. I remember as a child, calling another man dad Trying to compensate for something, I never actually had. I remember asking my mom,why you werent around. Until one day she finally told me, that they had to bury you in the ground. Carried six man deep, and buried 6 feet under. A lifetime of memories that could never be recovered. Memories...... something we never got a chance to make Because some guy had a gun, and your life he decided to take. August 1st, 1994 was the day. The day that Spank, took your life away. Not knowing that two months later, your baby girl would be born. And that for the rest of her life, over her dad, she will mourn. I never got a chance to hear your voice, or feel your warm embrace. I never got a chance to say I love you, or even see your face. Sometimes I ask God why were you taken from me? For this is something I wouldnt even wish on my worst enemy. Its May 10th ,2014, today you wouldve been the big FOUR ZERO. Becoming more wise, with some gray hair, but you wouldve still been my HERO. Who knew that day youd be gambling for your life instead of cash? Who knew that the next roll of the dice was going to be your last? Sometimes I wish I could press rewind and bring you back that day. Or at least get a chance to tell you happy birthday. Happy birthday dad. I love you❤️
