A poor and a handicapped girl from both her legs, hailing from a small village in Uttar Pradesh, has a zest to study and she loves to go to school. The request of her family to the local govt to help her with a by cycle so that the girl could be dropped and picked up from school easily went into deaf ears. This is the same Akhilesh govt which had made news for distributing free laptops as a fulfillment of promise made during the election campaign. So, the whole story is basically about the Kursi. 11th of November, also celebrated as Education Day; the day also marks the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first education minister of Independent India who was an eminent educationist and who promoted girls education. It was really unfortunate that the VC of Aligarh Muslim University gave a regressive statement on Education Day that the girls of the university will not be allowed access to the university library as they would attract more boys. I am sure he views girls as mere objects of distraction. Should he not be asked to resign from his post immediately? He himself is an insult for such a reputed education organisation. Almost every second or third day, there is news about little girls being raped and molested. The news comes from all the leading cities across the country. Seems, a new trend to target little souls has begun. What does really go deep into the minds of these men when they look at little innocent girls of two, three, four, five, six...years old? Paedophiles, they are walking demons on Earth, is all i understand. Had they not been so, they would have surely understood that they leave an innocent soul crippled forever by their heinous act. I personally feel that these men dont deserve to remain alive even for a single day after having committed one of the worst form of crime. I am not Malala day was observed three days ago in Pakistan. A girl who took a bullet in her head by the Talibanis for advocating girls education, who yet fought back and survived to show it to the world what women power is all about. The youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner at a mere age of 17, who emerged as a global icon for women empowerment was shown so much of disrespect in her own country. The reason was that she offered her support to the controversial novelist Salman Rushdie. It is not so easy to have your own mind probably in spite of being a global icon. A lot has to change yet. The overall regressive mind set regarding women empowerment has to undergo a paradigm shift and this shift can probably be brought only with collective efforts.Daughters are supposed to the pride of a nation and their marriages are not to be declared as liabilities. Honestly speaking, typing all this and posting it here is really easy. The actual job of bringing a change is really tough and is a slow process, but, if the strong minds present all around keep motivating others, a change can be brought, slowly but steadily for sure.
