A post from a person who PMd the site. I hear this story so many times (having also been in a similar boat) and it is so frustrating to hear that nothing is changing. A couple of years back I overpaid child support to the order of $3500. The CSA made it clear that they wouldnt claim it back. I then lost my job for second time in 14months. They included my payout in the calculations. My sons mother left her job, and they didnt include her payout. I tried to get them to treat us equally. I got told I had to apply for hardship. Both had to reveal our incomes and living expenses. The data showed that I was financial hardship, and my ex was by no means in hardship. However, CSA officer told my that even though I had a legal right to CSA payments, she would be recommending reduced contact for me and my son if I did not forgo my right to these payments. When I tried to place a complaint, the CSA told me that there were no tapes of the phone call and refused to deal with it. I tried the ombudsmen and of course the CSA just told them what theyd told me. I did however successfully appeal against CSA Officers recommendations. Furthermore, when I found out what the family law actually said, (Name removed) and I successfully took his mother to court, and (name removed) access with me was actually increased.
