A powerful set of interviews with residents who have been protesting at the Kinsale Road Direct Provision centre. One of them gives a brief tour of the crowded conditions and poor and over crowded facilitates which another reveals that very few of the people she talks to outside on a one to one basis are even aware such conditions exist. This is the 10th day that asylum seekers have locked out the management of the privatised direct provision centre. Residents are protesting at the poor and unfair conditions that they are being forced to live in. Asylum seekers are denied the right to work and study and forced to live on €19.10 per week. Here are some of the residents talking about the experience of Direct provision and why residents came together to lock management out. Yesterday, just as we were leaving, residents bagan a meeting to discuss the new settlement offered by Aramark Ltd., the company that runs Kinsale Road Asylum Centre. The residents voted to accept this offer and have ended their lock out of management. They are continuing to fight against the inhumane system of Direct Provision. Video © Paula Geraghty
