A pressure group in Ekiti State, Ekiti Good Governance Group (EGGG) and the state’s chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have engaged each other in a war of words over alleged procurement of nomination forms by 18 aspirants of the PDP ahead of the June 21 governorship election. The group alleged that the presidency was responsible for the procurement of nomination forms for 18 governorship aspirants of the party in order to create the impression that the party is popular in the state and plan to rig itself to government house. In the statement signed by its publicity secretary, Mr Taiwo Ojo, the group maintained that the PDP cannot produce any credible candidate capable of dislodging Governor Kayode Fayemi in the governorship election. But the PDP through its publicity secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, described the group’s allegation as “laughable, fallacious and ridiculous” and affront on the presidency. The PDP publicity secretary added, “the fact that 18 out of 33 that showed interest had procured the form shows that the PDP is vibrant and popular in Ekiti.
