A program on snakes will be held at the Gertrude M. Boyden Wildlife Refuge, 1298 Cohannet St., Taunton, MA 02780 on SATURDAY, JUNE 15, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Are there any venomous snakes in Massachusetts? How big do snakes get? What do they eat? Whether you enjoy finding snakes or are simply curious, Chris Rezendes, Friends of Boyden board member, will tell you about the most common snakes found at Boyden – northern black racer, eastern garter snake eastern ribbon snake, northern brown snake, eastern milk snake and northern ringneck snake. He’ll bring a few varieties with him to show and will take you on a snake hunt in the Boyden woods. If you have questions about our local snakes, Chris loves to be tested, so come down and ask! What to bring: Sunscreen, bug spray, camera, bottle of water, and long pants to avoid poison ivy. Space is limited, so please call 508-821-1676 to register.
