A pub on Blackpool’s Grange Park estate has seen its final pint pulled in what has been dubbed a “sign of the times.”The Dinmore, on Dinmore Avenue, closed suddenly at the weekend and is now boarded up.The property is listed on the Edward Symmonds property consultants website as being for sale with an asking price of £175,000.Peter Collins, from Grange Park Post Office said it was sad to see the loss of a British tradition.“Every town, every area has a local pub – it’s one of those British traditions, which is sadly becoming lost.“The community will lose a facility which provided somewhere for people to go.“It wasn’t just a pub, it also had a good function room, concert room and car park, so could be used for a whole range of activities.” Grange Park councillor Brian Doherty said he felt the venue had been on a downward spiral over the last couple of years. He said: “Over the last couple of years, it’s had different managers but with the economic downturn, people have just stopped using it as much.“I think it’s just a sign of the times really.“In the current climate, people in the community don’t always have the money to support their local pub.” The pub closed on Sunday.Terry Bennett, chairman of the Grange Park community partnership, said he was not surprised to learn The Dinmore had shut. He added: “It did undergo a revamp, but whenever you went past there were only ever a handful of people in there.“I believe the owners tried to sell it last year, but did not get the price they wanted.“There had been some problems with it in the past, youngsters drinking there and people drinking outside – but people do that with the off-licenses anyway.“I wouldn’t say it’s a big loss.” No one from the company which owns the pub was available to comment.
