A public service announcement on behalf of the Department of Health (DOH) and the UE Medical and Dental Clinic regarding MERS-CoV: While the World Health Organization (WHO) has not declared any outbreak or epidemic of MERS-CoV in the Middle East and there are no travel restrictions to and from the Arabian Peninsula, the DOH continues to encourage everyone to take precautionary measures to decrease the risk of transmission of the virus from an infected person to others. Anyone who might experience symptoms of MERS-CoV—which are similar to the indications of flu, including fever accompanied by cough, sore throat, nasal congestion or difficulty of breathing—should report to the nearest hospital. The DOH can also be reached through the following, 24-hour hotlines: 711-1001 • 711-1002 • 0922-884-1564 • 0920-949-8419 • 0915-772-5621. This announcement is a preventive measure in the interest of everyone’s health. After all, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Stay safe and well, Warriors!
