A publication in this weeks Science reveals that a hidden “ocean” lies in the Earth’s mantle some 400 miles beneath North America. This reservoir contains blue crystalline mineral called ringwoodite and likely holds three times as much water than all the oceans combined. Does this fulfill the Bible Scripture about Noah’s Flood and the great deep’s breaking forth? “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up.” Genesis 7:11 “For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water,” 2 Peter 3:5 Here is the Abstract: The high water storage capacity of minerals in Earth’s mantle transition zone (410- to 660-kilometer depth) implies the possibility of a deep H2O reservoir, which could cause dehydration melting of vertically flowing mantle. We examined the effects of downwelling from the transition zone into the lower mantle with high-pressure laboratory experiments, numerical modeling, and seismic P-to-S conversions recorded by a dense seismic array in North America. In experiments, the transition of hydrous ringwoodite to perovskite and (Mg,Fe)O produces intergranular melt. Detections of abrupt decreases in seismic velocity where downwelling mantle is inferred are consistent with partial melt below 660 kilometers. These results suggest hydration of a large region of the transition zone and that dehydration melting may act to trap H2O in the transition zone. Science 13 June 2014: Vol. 344 no. 6189 pp. 1265-1268 DOI:10.1126/science.1253358 This adds further credence to the best theory out there regarding what really happened when the fountains of the deep broke up in the days of Noah which is Dr. Walter Browns Hydroplate Theory. I encourage you to try to refute it here: creationscience/onlinebook/HydroplateOverview2.html
