A question about your impressions of my speech and writing - TopicsExpress

A question about your impressions of my speech and writing (basically any communication you are familiar with from me). Is it unusually filled with biblical/theological allusions? Im not asking, do I explicitly talk about the Bibl a lot because thats obvious. Im asking do you see me alluding to the Bible in more casual, rhetorical, joking, referential, or literary ways. Like do I make a point without saying, and the Bible says but just invoke a familiar phrase or precept thats recognizably a Christian allusion? An atheist friend once said, my language is more biblically allusive than that of anyone he interacted with. Im wondering if others are picking up on such a thing. Yesterday, when writing my tips for evangelicals, I was speaking in terms of my own values, but I found it fascinating how many of the points I could very naturally express in terms of Evangelical Christian emphases, biblical awareness, and theological principles. I could really see the points of overlap between my current ethics and my formerly Christian ethics through the exercise. Most particularly this was obvious because of the ready availability of the language, symbols, bible stories, etc. Based on this, Im thinking of doing two posts. One about how I see my ethics as sharing common ground with Christianity (sometimes even actual roots in that ground) and another about my ethical critique of Christianity and how I see my humanistic Empowerment Ethics as rejecting, improving, or supplanting Christian ideals and judgments. Anyway, Your Thoughts?
