A question for any friends who work with the Monroe Police Department. The fair is coming soon and as usual, I look forward to it! Last year, before entering and during the metal detector swipe... the police officer lightly patted me down and began putting his hand into my back pocket while asking do you have anything in your pockets? I turned around so his hand couldnt enter any further and told him theres nothing in my pockets and then walked in. Unless Im being detained, a police officers hands will not go into my pockets. I understand the need for security at the fair! Thats why I dont mind the metal detector and Ill even pull my pockets inside out if asked! Its my choice to enter the fair, its not like Im walking freely on a sidewalk. I know its their job to keep that area secure and Ill cooperate with that but I will not allow anyone to unlawfully search me! If Im confronted with this again this year then I will simply turn around and not enter the fair. If I refuse to let them do this and I choose to leave, what will MPD do? Will they allow me to leave or will they attempt to take further action?
