A question via member Hayden Wright: What are your feelings towards accents when it comes to vocals? Has a vocalists accent ever caused you to dislike their singing, or perhaps even ruined a song for you? Or does a strong accent simply not matter to you, so long as their singing voice is good and their pronunciation isnt too terrible? And lastly, is it distracting for you? Does it require extra concentration for you to appreciate/analyze the music when youre faced with a different accent than what youre accustomed to? My answer, I love accents. They dont distract me, but instead add personality. It is distracting, however, when a singer doesnt have some sort of mastery of the language. That bothers me, but doesnt usually keep me from listening to the band. It may keep me from connecting with the music, though. Ill post this question, and well see what the community says. What is your response?
