A quick update on Richard: He was pretty depressed when I arrived, said he just prays to die, but is thankful that he is not in pain. We visited for a little while and I turned the conversation to music. He started perking up. By the time I had left he had sung (and scatted) 42nd Street and You Do Something To Me. He had more color in his face, and seemed a little stronger than he was a couple of days ago. He told me about all of the people who had come to see him and called him. He said, I guess I still do have a few friends. The place that he is in is very dreary, and there is little to stimulate his brilliant mind. Thats why we have to do everything possible to give him that human contact that he so badly needs. Thanks to everyone for your visits, your calls, and your prayers.
