A random thought… Currently as it stands by way of the Constitution, the Executive authority is vested in Her Majesty and in order for something to become law, it must receive a Royal Assent which is a sign of Her Majesty’s approval in the law that the Cabinet/Parliament has decided to make law. What is the entire cost of the Post of GG? From salaries of all involved, i.e. the GG, maids, gardeners, drivers, vehicles, gas, electricity etc… How costly would it be to change the Constitution where it says the Executive authority is vested in Her Majesty to say the Executive authority is vested in the People of the Bahamas and in order for a law presented and passed by Cabinet/Parliament approval must be gained via referendum? Would the Bahamian electorate become more educated and knowledgeable of the laws with continuous referendums to be voted on year round? Although such an idea places true power with the people how possible is something like this?
