A re-post from last week: I have seen a number of theological arguments posed over the years (concerning proper foreign policy of the U.S. abroad) for and against a relationship with Israel. These arguments range from reasonable to neo-nazi. Once a nation has entered into a covenant (perceived by some or many to be bad) with another, it is a matter of integrity and honor - before God - that such covenants be upheld. As a matter of context, ongoing theological debates should include this understanding, else the perception of unreasonable dislike of Israel pervades. On one end there are factions of my fellow evangelicals whose support for the state of Israel seems disconnected from Israels national sins. On the other extreme we have a very pro-palestinian liberal church whose dislike of Israel is irrational.
