A recent post got me thinking about how R+ is advertised . Before I understood the science behind R+ and people tried introducing me to it they always come with the angle of it being more humane with no bulling techniques . CM is a bully and so forth ! But when people believe he saves lives of difficult dogs and gets fast results they believe R+ cant and being humane isnt always top of the list and saving the life is and they justify the out of date methods . As we know punishment only suppresses behaviour and doesnt address the emotional causes . R+ tackles the emotional problem changing the relationship the dog has with the environment or trigger causing the problem , creating long term results and a happier more relaxed dog . IMO being humane is just an added bonus ,actually changing the emotional attachements the dog has with their surroundings and training is the reason I believe in R+ . Advertising the physological benefits for the dog and long term results in behaviour modification to me is more important than pushing the fact its kind . Like CM followers say kind/treats dont save lives of their red zone dogs . No it doesnt but with the true understanding of what R+ is about you can then appreciate treats and kindness are our tools not our methods
