A reflection from Fr. Dan about the annual St. Bonaventure - TopicsExpress

A reflection from Fr. Dan about the annual St. Bonaventure University mens and womens swim team visits just before Christmas: Cutting down Christmas trees and gathering greens, cooking wonderful meals and sharing them around the table and the fireplace, the women and men’s swim team came for their annual evening and overnights at the Mountain. I and my brothers are always struck by the freshness they bring to us despite the exhaustion they bear from their long practices and then they make the trip up hill and are bright eyed and full of spirit (as you can see from my pictures). They motivate each other from their experience of being swimmers together, being on Bona’s swim teams - divers and swimmers alike. On the men’s and women’s separate evenings they call each other out telling them this is a unique night that will help them form relationships beyond clicks; deepen friendships they already have and will last a lifetime. I’m always moved by how they claim this as the most important tradition outside of the pool for four years now theyve climbed up from the House of Peace and with a brief visit in La Paz hearing scripture or the story from Francis’s life at Greccio where Francis began what we now think of as the nativity set. We then walk to the chapel in the darkness of the night, feeling and finding within us that there is a light that has overcome the darkness; there is no darkness that will overcome the light. Blessings of warmth light and the joy of Christmas from all of us, your Mountain family.
