A reflection on recent events. Just thoughts bouncing around in my mind. As a physician - If you treat people with an affliction as less than people, you have failed them. One must observe the incidence of disease in all of its forms and note, irrefutably, that people HAVE diseases and that they are not the disease itself. One would not call a cancer patient a cancer, nor should they call one with mental health issues or addiction problems by pejorative terms; Crazy, Junky, etc. These people deserve our patience, respect, and help. Judgement and actions done against them only serve to worsen their condition and to reflect badly on our selves.
