A reflection on suicide - I do not hold with the positions of established religion or of conventional civilised society. It is complicated and depends on circumstances. if it is a teenager who has broken up with a girlfriend and has his life in front of him - it is tragic and should be prevented at all costs if possible. If it is an 89 year old retired Englisb arts teacher who has decided that she cannot reconcile herself with the insanity of the modern world and makes a short trip to Switzerland or an aging investigative journalist who has given 40 years of his life to carrying the pain, the lies and insanity of the world on his shoulders and wants to put down the burden - that is a different matter. What right does anyone have to stand in judgement?
