A reminder that the 2013 Kayak Winter Series gets underway this Sunday at Lake Barrington 10.30 start. Marshalling for all races in the series will close 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Race distances 10km and 5km. All participants must be members of a club affiliated with Australian Canoeing (this does not include surf clubs, sorry!!) Those who are not yet registered with a club, can join the Tasmanian Canoe Club. Tas CC no longer has part year memberships. Membership fee is senior: $80 junior: $60. This allows for entry in all AC sanctioned events for the 2013/2014 financial year. This includes sprint regattas we are planning for after the Winter Series and all national regattas including Nationals Championships. Registration forms for Tasmanian Canoe Club can be downloaded from tcc.canoe.org.au/ Please bring completed forms and correct money if possible to help streamline the registration process. To minimise pre-race hassles, this year we will require every competitor’s boat to display race numbers. A small fee applies for these. Entry fee: $8.00 per race. Race Numbers $5.00 for the series. Participants from other Clubs please bring proof of registration e.g. current membership card. RACE MANAGEMENT: Once again we will be supported by BLAST Paddlers with race management. This year we are aiming to reduce admin time by encouraging competitors to manage their own entries online. Race results will also be able to be accessed from the BLAST website. Register with BLAST at rms.blastpaddlers.org SAFETY: Please note that all participants will now be required to wear an approved PFD. If you need to aquire a PFD please support our long time sponsor John Van der Woude, Canoe and Surf, Fourways Devonport. John will have PFDs available for purchase at the race. DATE CHANGE: Please note that the final race of the series has been re-scheduled to September 15. This is due to a clash with a rowing event. Sorry for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, rowing events take precedence at the Lake. PRIZES: We are still negotiating a major random draw prize for the series. This will operate on the same basis as in previous years with paddlers receiving one entry for each series race completed. Thank you to Next Level Kayaking, Jantex and Bennett who have already volunteered prizes for the series. ENQUIRIES: Please contact Jeremy Norton if you have any questions 0438421245
