A respectable navy is one that polices and apprehends suspects in a firm and yet humane and dignified manner. 33 delegates from militaries in the Asia-Pacific region came together from 5 to 8 May at the Regional Workshop on Law of Armed Conflict at Sea to discuss ways to carry out maritime patrolling justly and humanely. Jointly hosted by the Singapore Armed Forces and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), participants attended lectures delivered by industry insiders from the ICRC, academia, and military, including one by COL Giam Hock Koon, Commander Maritime Security Task Force.
