A review on the documentary from a Seaford Town descendent - As a kid growing up I had a lot of questions about Jamaica. Some I asked and was answered. As I grew older I have more deeper questions. Why Jamaica if we were originally German. Those questions were either not answered or vaguely answered, which always left me wondering who we were. Many reasons we never were answered, either the older generation wasnt around to remember, or it was kept hush hush, like a dark secret. From this video I learned that there is still a lot not being answered, mostly because of fear. I believe this fear is from the fact that they were not originally from here and whatever caused them to leave their Germany, could very well also cause them to leave Jamaica, or cause issues with them down there. I know the director David, and he is an amazing person. We have chatted so many times in regard to this documentary. David has been very frank in his response, and not hiding what society thinks he should. I have also been to a screening here in TORONTO, where I ran into family. My grandfathers sister that I have not seen since his funeral, my mothers cousin whom I have never met, and my cousin who is my mothers sisters daughter. I also know that a lot of his info came from my Uncle who is now in Jamaica. my uncle has dove so much into Seaford and the people of it, including the family tree, which by the way is so huge that it looks like 10 movie scripts piled up! I came to this screening with hopes of finding out who we were, not as Jamaican but who we were as blood. And yes I still have unanswered questions, not because David chose to stop filming or abandoned it, but because the people from Seaford could only provide some info as there is something in Jamaica keeping them quiet. And this was the only unanswered question.. Why so quiet? What is the big secret? Thank you David for trying to find out our answers. I wish it had been easier for you to do this documentary, but I thank you for doing as much as you could seeing that not many people open up. I am very proud of this documentary and what it tried to show us. Im just so disgusted that so many people claim to be from here or know people from here and that they can be so close minded, and ignorant. And this is why there is secrets being kept...
