A riff: This really does bring out a sense of cognitive dissonance. Bush lies us into a war in Iraq. Around 4800 US soldiers were killed. Another 40,000 are wounded; amputees, burn victims and the horribly disfigured. An estimated twenty percent have PTSD but it is almost certainly higher as their is a stigma against admitting any weakness. Traumatic Brain Injury due to road side bombs and mines is the signature wound of this war. The family members and their friends are grieving. Many returning vets are showing signs of radiation poisoning as a result of the used of depleted uranium. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died. Hundreds of thousand were wounded. Hundreds of thousands are refugees. The infrastructure of the cities and towns were attacked. The water is putrid. Electricity is often not available. We torture. Bush and Cheney say they would do it all over again. Bush claims to be a born again Christian. David Kuo was the head of Bushs Faith Based Initiative. He became disillusioned and thought it was all a sham. He said that the Bush administration would kiss up to the fundamentalists and evangelicals in order to get their votes and campaign contributions but in private, they would dismiss them as a bunch of nut jobs. Bush scammed the rubes and suckers. Launching a war on lies, Murdering hundreds of thousands. Destroying a country. What country would Jesus attack? And a good Christian institution of higher learning, Southern Methodist University hosts Bushs presidential library. No irony there. This building cost around $500 million of dollars. I am reminded of the old joke: A man walks into a bar and sits next to a woman. He asks her if she would sleep with him for one million dollars. Excited, she says Sure! He then asks her is she will sleep with him for ten dollars. Pissed off, she says No. What kind of girl do you think I am? He replies, We have already established that. Now we are just bargaining over the price. It certainly appears to me that by taking $500 million to host the presidential library of a war criminal, we have established what kind of school SMU is.
