A rock ballet based on the tales of Edgar Allan Poe that features ShadowboxLive musicians and Cleveland dancers is coming to the Palace Theatre. The Masque, a full-length ballet that premiered in November in Cleveland, will be performed at 8 p.m. May 15 in a presentation sponsored by the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts and Shadowbox Live. Dancers from Cleveland’s Verb Ballets and musicians from Shadowbox Live will perform the work, which features contemporary rock music mixed with classical works by Beethoven, Schoenberg and other composers. The ballet weaves dance and music to bring together tales by Poe with the overarching storyline of his The Masque of the Red Death.
