A sad day, moved off Thorpe Woodlands after 20 years this morning. Will always remember it fondly, didnt look back as I towed caravan out but did a couple of special trees before I left. So many memories, I could almost hear all the children laughing - year after year. The planning meeting is tomorrow, but thats just a tick box exercise under the town & country planning act, the planners wont have balls so long as their boxes are ticked with massaged information and impact studies. To the organisations that so mismanaged this whole episode, I pray that you end up with egg on your faces, the thick portfolio of letters, meeting minutes, mis information and witness statements will become very usefull in due course. To the commissioners, well what else is there to say? You were tasked with safeguarding the Forrests and you have failed miserably, you were accountable to the government and the people. But as they say, money talks, and obviously as the government were defeated in selling off the forests you thought you would give them them away. 35 years as a conservative supporter, Ive had my eyes opened and never ever again! To all our friends and acquaintances, I wish you well. Never ever will we find a site so tranquil and beautiful but the accountants win.
