A schooldays friend posted a comment mentioning Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Imran Khan (official) as a lost and as a future savior of #Pakistan, respectively. Sorry to say, my friend is wrong. I was a fan of Bhutto when I knew my friend and we were teenagers at Aitchison College, #Lahore, Pakistan. Ironically, Imran Khan was among the great people we loved seeing come to the #Cricket grounds to play. Much that I despise the slimy dictator General Zia, the worst cancer that befell Pakistan, #Bhutto was politically assassinated but not a martyr by any stretch. He did order murders of opponents, and paid the price with his hubris. He double handedly with Mujeeb (and lame Army in 1971) break Pakistan into two, and single handedly destroyed an up and coming economic power to make Pakistan a basket case, where industries were decimated with nationalization, and absolute power became the desire of every subsequent head of state. Imran Khan had so much potential and I was a fan, but he has zero actionable plans to solve the actual problems, and only ego and popularity. Anyone can say, Put me in power, and I will fix everything, but my plans are secret. I had hopes for Khan to hold the people in power accountable, not become a proxy for ant-democracy and anti-stability forces. Only an enemy of Pakistan would destroy the first chance Pakistan has had at institution building and some semblance of elected governments actually peacefully transitioning - something #India, next door, has done successfully throughout its history, despite having even more languages, parties, religions sects, internal and external enemies. I do not see the Indians ripping out democracy every time it gets established. They do not have perfect elections. But they let the system work and improve. Pakistanis are always either waiting for Allah to instantly fix everything, or having waited nearly 70 years for that, wait for the next best thing... a Moajza (miracle) creating leader. I have news for the foolish people following Imran Khan and the cartoon maulvi with him. EVERY country in the world has corrupt, incompetent and selfish politicians, They do not throw out an entore system every few years or force their army to move in just because 100,000 people or even a million people get into a march. No #Messiah can solve Pakistans problems. People do not fix their own actions and expect miracles. No Imran Khan, or, sad to admit, even Imran Anwar, can claim that we can fix the problems without the nation and the people of Pakistan realizing, Change Begins With ME!, and acting on it. Otherwise, here goes another chance at #Democracy to Sloganocracy. God save Pakistan from ourselves and our so-called saviors. It can only be saved by every one of us doing the right thing, for Pakistan, in our daily lives, and taking action, to hold everyone accountable, from Prime Ministers to Chamcha Ministers, from Generals to journalists, from businessmen to policemen. Whether you are in the protests or against them, please tell us what YOU are doing in YOUR life to make Pakistan a better place.
