A seasoned politician and experienced parliamentarian Sushmaswaraj stirred another con-traverse and committed constitutional impropriety. India is a land of Multi cultural, social and religious beliefs. The constitution of India which is for, by and of the Indian people which they gave unto themselves by solemn oath to commit themselves to the sacred principles enshrined in the preamble of the constitution, it binds all the Indians who are born and reside in India. Where as the religious scriptures, or texts or holy books have limited application. Say, Bhagavatgita binds the people of Hindu religion, Bible binds the people who believe in Christian faith, Khuran binds the Muslims and Grandhasai binds Sikhs and so on and so forth and they do not have universal application to all Indians. The constitution guarantees the fundamental right of practicing the religion of the choice of an individual Indian and there cannot be a State sponsored religion as preamble categorically and in unequivocable terms describes India as a Socially, Secular and democratic republic. The ministers take oath in accordance with the provisions of the constitution, binding themselves to protect the every dictum of the constitution. This type of statements by a responsible cabinet ministers will give wrong signals and goes against their oath and violation of the constitution making their continuance in the high office highly untenable.
