A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for this morning and early afternoon. It may bring briefly heavy rainfall and/or strong winds to Northland, Auckland, Waikato and Waitomo, especially near the west coast. This rainfall could cause surface and/or flash flooding, especially about low-lying areas such as streams, rivers or narrow valleys, and may also lead to slips. Driving conditions may also be hazardous with possible surface flooding and poor visibility in heavy rain and gusty conditions will affect motorcycles and high-sided vehicles. So, please take care out there!
