A short editorial ..... Smart Phones appear to be making some people really stupid. Im ok with technology up to a certain point, but, when it starts taking the place of actual communcation between people, its becoming increasingly annoying and it does nothing but tick people off. Ill call you back, I have to text something important to someone ? Thats like a slap in the face... its like saying I would rather not talk to you right now so I can NOT talk to someone else. Trying to have a conversation in person with someone who pulls out there phone to check text messages and cant even look in your direction while they are supposed to be involved in the conversation with you? Rude! The art of having a conversation is to convey ideas and solutions, the ability to keep ones mouth shut and open your ears to listen and not start talking before the other person finishes their presentation is being lost to technology. Email ,Texting,Voicemail, has its place, but , when you hear people complaining about lack of communication in the workplace ... everyone has a computer at their desk and a phone and management is reliant on their smart phones to keep in touch, yet, I continue to hearNobody told me or when did that start? Barrages of texts,incessant questions over the phone for answers to questions about things you know nothing about and cant stop talking long enough to hear whats being said back to you so you would know what you need to know, getting an email that tells you Good Job? Really? How good do you feel if your boss doesnt have time for you to tell you good job he/she has to email it? Maybe Im just too old fashioned and would rather listen to someone face to face in a conversation without being interrupted by cell phones, text alerts, and such. It just seems like everybodys not talking and worse yet nobodys listening either.
