A short history of religion Many totems and rituals merged together to form ancient religions of the world. The gods slowly transformed from half-animal-half-human to fully human. Jain and Buddhism formed the first attempts to introduce harmony into the cacophony. Buddhism, Jainism and various tribal, nomadic and agricultural gods merged to form a polytheistic religion similar to the Greeco-Roman and Persian religions of the west. Jesus Christ challenged this tradition of gods and decided to put human-love at the center of the religion and not the worship of some totem god. However, he was crucified and the Romans who crucified him highjacked his religion and turned it into a religion of the oppressor. Prophet Mohammed realized that instead of showing both cheeks to the enemy you should have Koran (which is a improved version of Bible) on the one hand and a sword on the other hand (to defend against enemies of the people). However, just like Christianity, the British and the American capitalists have used elements like the Saudi Kings and Bin Laden to highjack Islam for controlling oil. The democratic movement against Western colonization of middle east (for oil and other mineral deposits) have been branded as Islamic movements, including the secular Islamic varieties of Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iran, and Iraq. West have been staunch ally of the extreme elements of Islam like the Saudi-Sunny version, just for the reason it has more oil.
