A silly question for everybody, but... How big do you reckon that Liberator and Scorpio actually are? Obviously, the model teams probably werent paying attention to keeping it consistent when what mattered was getting a nice shot within budget (eg: the collision with the Federation pursuit ship in Duel; that Fed ship could eat the London!), so one episode contradicts another, but nevertheless... For both ships we have a sequence where theyre docked by a transfer tube that we see in modelwork, and live action work with our favourite psychopaths! (Gold and Space Fall, just in case). 30-odd years back I roughed it out as Liberator 800-900 meters (more than twice as big as Kirks Enterprise, but a bit smaller than Picards, which hadnt been invented then), and about 45m for Scorpio. The Wife and Blake blog prompted me to have another look at Gold today, and Id overestimated how big the docking tunnel was compared to the relevant hatch on the Scorpio model, so Id now put her at about 60m/200foot (the Millennium Falcon is supposedly about 35m long, so that fits). Will have to dig out Space Fall to rerun the specs on Liberator in glorious DVD, and may be as wrong there again, given the upscaling across the model, but.. any thoughts?!
