A single day to remember what was given to us by so many. Just a single day, why is that? How can we say just one day? Those who served our country remember every day of the year. Yet our country will only give them one day. How about we remember each and every day. Remember by giving them the insurance they so desperately need? Remember by giving them the respect they deserve and have earned. You see it should not matter if you agree with the war. All that should matter is they have fought and are fighting for us. The love they have for our country is undeniable....they have proven it. Yet we have proven to them we dont care what they gave. I was raised differently. I was taught freedom does not come cheap. That my brothers and sisters fight for me and have died for me...for this country. That the up most respect should be given. They dont ask for a lot from us, so why are we so ungrateful to them. Our government has let them down as we the people have. Shame on us. They were asked to fight and they did. Only to be a banded when they need us. Far to many gave their lives for us yet we forget that. For those who managed to come home....really left a part of themselves where they fought. Never to be the same again. Changed forever. How could they not be? They deserve the best of everything from us without question. Yet so many of our veterans need our help and will never get it. We as a country have let down the very people who gave us the freedoms we do so enjoy. I am saddened by what I have seen form our country, form our government. We the people have allowed our country to dismiss what was given by our brothers and sisters. We could have and should have demanded more for them. By not doing that we as a whole dismissed them. I cant change the policies of my government, it no longer belongs to us. The Politians own it now, and their greed will never allow them to treat our military right. They are all my brothers and sisters and I for one shall never forget nor dismiss the sacrifices they made for me. The families they left behind and lost for me. I will always stand proud of them, to cherish what was given to me by them. Stand tall my brothers and sisters for you have no shame for what you were asked to do. God Bless you for the courage to do what needed to be done. The shame is on us for not remembering it was done for us. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS FOREVER.
