A single spark can start a prairie fire I still remembered it was the end of my second semester, my sis’s bf made a thought-provoking conversation with me. He firstly asked me about the future career like every relative does in purpose of icebreaking. At that time I was perplexed to give a satisfying answer. I said, “ I’m not sure, maybe media industry but I’m not a big fan of politics or news reporting. I love fashion and clothing, perhaps working for a fashion magazine?” Surprisingly, he gave me an affirmative response and encouraged me to accumulate more experience by writing a blog and sharing my personal knowledge. He used to work in Zara so he had tons of stories to share with me. While I was listening, I thought maybe it could be a good idea to start writing a college fashion magazine. But after all it’s just a thought. Honestly I am a procrastinating person. I told my idea to some of my close friends but I never really worked on it until my sis’s bf asked me about my working progress and dragged me back on the right track. When I finally started to think about it in a serious way, fortunately I got many supports from my friends. Johnny showed his interest and later he joined me. Starting from nothing, we did many researches on campus fashion from other colleges in various countries and had debates and different opinion on the certain issue. We had prepared for three months till the beginning of the semester just because we aim to make a high-quality and high-class magazine. A week before the publication of FOCUS, Sunny, a talented hku student form Shanghai who is recommended by Johnny joined us as our artistic director. Now, we are ready. “ In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” Every time I took great outfit pictures of students on campus, the feeling of satisfaction and the sense of achievement made me complete. It is not an inspiring story but a real one that teaches me the authentic happiness comes with perseverance and passion. I sincerely hope you could enjoy and love our page.
