A six-year old party has won the snap elections in #Slovenia. The party which holds the name of its founder - the law professor Miro Cerar - has won around 35% of the votes at the elections on July 13th in Slovenia and will receive between 36 and 38 seats in the 90-seat parliament. The new formation is centre-left oriented, but some of Mr Cerars views have already caused nervousness in the euro area because he announced his intentions to renegotiate the Slovenian reform programme that envisages significant privatisation. Miro Cerar is against it. Second in the elections emerged the party of former PM Janez Jansa who is currently serving a prison term for corruption. His party will receive 19 seats which is a serious achievement despite the scandals that shattered the party, but in the past months Mr Jansa succeeded in positioning himself as a dissident and a victim of Slovenias communist past. Alenka Bratuseks coalition, the incumbent PM, has suffered a heavy defeat by hardly succeeding to pass the threshold of 4%. The voter turnout was 50.9% which is 14.7 points down compared to 2011. euinsi.de/JRXH
