A snippet of my WIP: The false courage of retribution has faded and now the tremors begin their torment. Looking down at my clothing, I see the dark red blood stains that the darkness had hidden. Dry heaves wrench my body and as I lift my hand to cover my mouth and to my horror I see that it is covered in blood and dried bits of flesh. The head! Where is the monster’s head?! Jumping up I search the front room and all along the pathway to the cart path. Nothing. Could I have imagined butchering Ramon’s head? “I buried it.” Luisa’s quietly spoken words whisper along the empty llano and then scream into me. Dios mío, perdóname.
