A spokesman of the Shura Council has claimed Islamists based in Benghazi are responsible for shooting down a plane belonging to retired General Khalifa Haftars forces on Friday. In response, Haftars spokesman Mohammed Hijazi said the plane had crashed due to a technical malfunction rather than attacked. The plane fell from the sky near al-Bayda in the east of Libya, killing pilot Ibrahim al-Manfi, Hijazi confirmed.
