A sticky question. Out of the countless messiahs that came along in turn of the era Jerusalem, ( they were a dime a dozen, preaching the kingdom of God at hand).....why did the message of THIS one take hold and persist? Divinity aside. Im not even putting that in the question. Im not a Christian, but from a historical, sociological point of view. Why did THIS one change history and the others didnt? Im thinking its Paul, who took what was a Jewish messiah and created a more Greek and Roman savior according to what he understood would sell in the Empire. Jesus was the genius, but Paul was the promoter. In my own mind the promotion of Paul was at odds with the spirit of his Master.
