A stirring sci-fi spectacle of socio-political commentary from Neill Blomkamp. Metal Gear Solid-esque meets Arthur C. Clarke visuals combined with an uncomfortable reminder of that Wikileaked airstrike footage, the movie moves forwards at a jaunty pace and never loses track of the sub-text its trying to put across, despite falling prey to a couple of sci-fi tropes. Matt Damon is functional, Jodie Foster hams it up, whilst Sharlto Copley once again steals every scene hes in - you seriously cant take your eyes off him. And no-one does mech quite like Blomkamp (WETA easily surpass Industrial Light and Magic these days) and the soundtrack is notable too. Not quite District 9 (fookin prawns!), but highly enjoyable all the same. Recommend! 8/10 imdb/title/tt1535108/?ref_=nv_sr_1
