A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed (Daniel 6:17). If this were a scene from a movie, it would be the final scene, depicting a most unhappy ending: godly Daniel thrown into a den of lions with a massive stone blocking the only exit. As the credits roll, the audience would not wonder what happened next. It would be understood that Daniel’s death was not only imminent but horrifying. However, this scene does not take place on a Hollywood set. The writer, director, and producer of this scene is an all-powerful, loving God, performing the miraculous—closing the mouths of the lions while leaving the mouths of the townspeople gaping: this is God. Maybe you are in a “lion’s den.” The neon “no exit” sign illuminates your situation, convincing you there is no way out. Be encouraged. If God can close the mouths of lions, He is capable of bringing peace in your time of trouble. Thought for Today: All things are possible with God!
