A story from Meijers: So I went into Meijers for a few quick things, paper towel, mushrooms, sandwich thins buns, maybe one or two other things (oh yeah, I bought a can of Baba Ganoush as an impulse. Its eggplant spread, like hummus. Yummy.) I picked up a banana from the little crate where they keep pieces of fruit for shoppers and their kids... especially for the kids. I ate the banana and couldnt find a place to put the peel. I had just finished swimming so I was a little endorphind up... wandering around the store a little more than necessary, but thats the way I am in those bigass stores anyway. Finally, not finding an appropriate receptacle anywhere, I took the peel back to the crate where I got it and set the peel on the shelf there. I wandered away toward the bread, checking things out, wondering if I should get some deli meat. They have some great turkey pastrami there. And cheap. Ive taken to making reubens with it (just one slice of low fat swiss) Suddenly a woman called at me from about twenty yards away. Sir!... Sir? I was a bit startled but looked up at her. You left your banana peel back there Hm? I said. What? You left your banana peel back there. It took me a minute to register what she was telling me. I was flummoxed a bit. I said, Oh? I did? She said yes you did Oh, I said. Thank you, and I walked away. Was that the right way to handle it?
