A suit filed by Governor Chibuike Amaechi against the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, to compel the agency release the state-owned aircraft impounded for failure to follow civil aviation procedures in its operation has been struck out by a Port Harcourt Federal High Court. The case was struck out on the ground that the State Governor’s lawyer filed a notice of discontinuance at the court, following an objection by the NCAA lawyers that the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the suit. Media Assistant to the Aviation Minister, Mr Joe Obi in a statement informed that the suit struck on Friday. The implication of the withdrawal of the suit by Governor Amaechi after several months of media assault on the Presidency that the action was taken due to the political feud on gound is that indeed the governor contravened the said sections of operational laws as stated by NCAA.
