A taste of things to come. Textile artist Helen Edwards is busily embroidering cushions with names of the wild flowers so important to our bees. We will be able to give you glimpses of this work in progress soon. Meanwhile she already has some work in hand that fits well for the exhibition. For example this delightful Ivy Leaf Coverlet. It’s surprising just how important ivy is to bees. Apparently honey bees rely upon ivy for the majority of the pollen and nectar they collect during the autumn months, a crucial time when the insects are trying to build up stores for the winter and feed their young. Im sure youll agree that Helen’s work has a wonderful tactile quality; creating flexible constructed surfaces. Textile artist is busyly stitching away
