A thought on funeral protests: A few years ago, I attended the funeral of a career firefighter who died fairly young. His death was mainly attributed to a lost battle with the bottle. He served with pride and integrity, but was infiltrated by a demon that tempts and takes too many first-responders. It was a sad time for his family, and the brotherhood, to put him to rest. The morning of his funeral, a regional mainstream newspaper SLAMMED him online and and their front page for being a drunk. Maybe the facts hold up, but that day was NOT the day to publish that crap. That man served to the best of his ability, persevered with in his career, and his family deserved to mourn in peace. I have no more respect for the officers who turned their back at these two funerals, than I do for that media source who chose to slam a funeral with ill-timed facts about a man who had dedicated his life to serving his fellow man.
